Two more children have been arrested after a girl was left in hospital following an attack in Bristol.

A total of five arrests have now been made after a girl in her mid-teens was attacked in Philadelphia Street, Cabot Circus, at around 7.45pm on Wednesday, March 4.

The first three individuals were arrested on Thursday, March 5 on suspicion of various offences, including affray, racially aggravated fear of violence and grievous bodily harm with intent.

Overnight on Friday, March 6 to Saturday, March 7, Avon and Somerset Police arrested a boy, 12, and a girl, 14, on suspicion of affray.

All suspects have been released on police bail and enquiries are ongoing.

The mother of the victim criticised the inaction of onlookers after the video of her daughter’s attack circulated widely on social media.

Stacey said her daughter sought safety inside Zara after being approached but they followed her and surrounded her. When Zara staff failed to intervene the young girl left the shop, she said, when the violence unfolded.

“It’s awful, she was in town and a group of children followed her up to the bus stop that she was getting on.”
