Burnaby RCMP have shared some intense road rage footage in hopes of identifying the suspect involved.
The incident took place on Aug. 19 on Dover Street near Royal Oak Avenue.
Burnaby RCMP says the suspect allegedly assaulted two victims during the road rage incident.
The video shared by Burnaby RCMP shows a man emerging from an Audi that stops in front of the vehicle that the victims were occupying. The man, visibly irate, quickly storms toward the driver’s side window.
Without warning, he smashes his fist through the window, shattering it. He then returns to his driver’s side door, turning back to look toward the victims’ vehicle, when the video cuts off.
The video footage was captured by an external and internal dashcam.
“Though the entire interaction lasts only seconds, the suspect also returns to the victim’s vehicle, grabs a cell phone off the dashboard and throws it at the passenger. Both the passenger and the driver sustained injuries from the incident,” Burnaby RCMP said.
An investigation identified the passenger of the suspect’s vehicle as the registered owner. However, despite numerous attempts, including just days ago, according to the RCMP, the registered owner has refused to identify the suspect.
“The video is hard to watch, and the violence displayed is simply inexcusable,” said Cpl. Mike Kalanj with the Burnaby RCMP in a statement.
“We are confident that someone will be able to identify the suspect, and we ask that they come forward and speak to our investigators.”
Anyone who can identify the suspect or has information that might be able to assist investigators is asked to contact the Burnaby RCMP at 604-646-9999, quoting file number 2025-29201.
