Rangers will have an allocation of around 2500 for the final derby clash of the season with Celtic at Parkhead as it stands.
The away crowds were slashed to just 750 almost eight years ago, but an agreement between the clubs saw the numbers increased this term. 2500 Rangers fans were at Celtic Park at New Year and more than 2000 Celtic supporters hit Ibrox in the Premiership encounter seven days before the Scottish Cup last weekend.
However, cup rules allowed Hoops fans to snap up the full Broomloan Stand for the first time in eight years. Following the 4-2 win on penalties for Martin O’Neill’s men, there was a massive pitch invasion after a series of incidents throughout derby day.
Police Scotland chiefs have criticised the clubs for their silence in the aftermath, while the Scottish Government have also called for action. But speaking to Record Sport’s Hotline Live Keith Jackson revealed that talks over the post-split fixture have taken place.
The Light Blues are currently set to maintain the 2500 fans that were allowed in the previous fixture. Jackson said: “It’s my understanding that the SPFL has already been in talks with the police about the next one, the post-split game at Celtic Park.
“As things stand, I am led to believe anyway, there has been no attempt to alter the agreement which is already in place for this season for away allocations. As things stand, Rangers will get the same allocation that they had previously which is around 2500 in that corner at the away end at Celtic Park.
“Let me tell you something, the police better up their game.
“Whether it is inside the stadium, around the stadium, during the the match – they have to be far more visible and mindful than they were at the weekend.

“They have to do their job, but none of that excuses what went on at the weekend, I come back to that.”
Speaking on Monday, Martin O’Neill admitted he fears no away allocations will be permitted at Celtic and Rangers matches following the disgraceful scenes.
He said: “I am obviously quite saddened by the events.
“It’s a shame because I think the things that I was hoping would happen which hadn’t happened for a long time won’t happen again with the full (away) allocations at Ibrox and Celtic Park perhaps being taken away.”
