Peel police have arrested and charged a man they allege stole thousands of dollars worth of items from major retailers in the region.

In a release on Thursday, police said they conducted a three-month-long investigation into retail theft and distribution in the area.

As a result of the investigation, officers executed a search warrant at a Brampton residence and recovered 300 bottles of alcohol, 100 bricks of butter, and 91 tubs of ghee.

Police say the estimated value of all the stolen goods is approximately $30,000 and that they were taken from various retailers including the LCBO, Freshco, Shoppers Drug Mart and Walmart.

Pintu Gohil, 48, from Brampton, has been charged with two counts of possession of property obtained by crime.

He was released from custody and will appear in a Brampton court next month.
