Gareth Ainsworth says the Sky Blues are ‘unstoppable’
Coventry City are ‘unstoppable’ after their 3-0 brushing aside of Preston North End left them eight points clear at the top of the Championship.
That’s according to former Wycombe and QPR manager Gareth Ainsworth who watched the Sky Blues capitalise on Middlesbrough’s loss to Charlton to take another big step towards the Premier League.
Frank Lampard’s side are now nine points ahead of third-placed Millwall, with nine games to go and in Ainsworth’s opinion hurtling towards promotion.
Speaking on Sky Sports, the Gillingham boss said: “Frank will have a go at me for saying this, but I think they’re the best team in the Championship – and that proves it.
“The squad is just phenomenal, the pace, the control of the ball, the chances they’ve created, you see why they’re top of the league.

“You’re talking about a man who has experienced pressure at the highest level, in fact, and I think that he will not be setting targets saying ‘Let’s reach that’.
“He’ll just be going game by game, game by game, and that’s the way to do it, for me. That’s the way I would do it.
“I think that you can’t get carried away and start setting targets you just fall away. [It’s] game by game and the process will look after itself. They’ve done fantastically well this season. Fair play to Frank.
“The spirit there is obvious to see, everyone’s smiling, the fans are involved, it looks like they’re unstoppable at the moment, and with performances like tonight they’re going to be.”
