One person was moderately injured and 58 others sustained light injuries in Zarzir following a series of Iranian rocket attacks that sparked sirens across northern Israel.
According to Magen David Adom, a 34-year-old woman who sustained shrapnel wounds to her back, was among the wounded in Zarzir, an Arab community in the Jezreel Valley. Several impact sites were reported in the community where the strike occurred, including a multi-story building. Damage was also reported in several structures in the area.
Fire services stated that several additional houses were damaged by the blast and firefighting teams extinguished a blaze at the scene.
According to Magen David Adom chief Eli Bin, the missile landed near several houses, resulting in very heavy shrapnel and extensive destruction. He added that those injured by shrapnel had not closed the window of the protected room where they were staying.
Due to the extent of the destruction at the impact site in Zarzir, searches are still ongoing, Col. Yigal Spilman, head of the Home Front Command in the region, told Haaretz – adding that there is no concern about people trapped in the debris or additional casualties.
According to Spilman, the impact was roughly 10 meters from a residential home where seven people were taking shelter. “About four additional houses were severely damaged and the rest sustained lighter damage,” he said.
