City of Saskatoon offers update on traffic, damages
According to a statement from the City of Saskatoon, Circle Drive northbound lanes underneath the 108th Street overpass are expected to open sometime late Thursday afternoon, barring any unforeseen circumstances.
As of Thursday afternoon, there was no estimate on the cost to repair that overpass. Contractors were still on scene removing loose concrete to make the overpass safe for drivers underneath.
As for the Highway 11 and 16 overpass that was hit on March 4, the engineer’s estimate to repair it is pegged at $400,000.
So far, there’s no word from Saskatoon police on any potential charges to either of the drivers or the companies involved in the two collisions.
The city’s statement did confirm two different companies and two different drivers were involved in each of the overpass collisions.
Cindy Yelland, city solicitor, said “It will be the city’s intention to pursue all legal avenues to collect damages for the two recent incidents.”
