Star Tiger cleared for a return.

By Henry Milic, Richmond Media

Richmond has ruled out first-year player Jonty Faull for the remainder of the season following the knee injury he suffered on Saturday.

This Injury Report is brought to you by nib. With nib, life could be potentially amazing.

Faull injured his left knee in the early stages of the loss to Gold Coast, with scans confirming an injury to his medial ligament.

The key forward has had a terrific debut season, overcoming a limited pre-season due to a back stress injury to feature in 16 consecutive games after his AFL debut in Gather Round.

Faull booted 9.18 and averaged 2.75 marks per game, including 15 contested marks, which ranked the teenager #3 at Richmond.

The 19-year-old will not require surgery on his knee and will be back running prior to the return of pre-season.

Tim Taranto: Calf, Available

“Tim did really well in his test last week, but to take a precautionary approach, we decided to hold him back, and he should be available this week,” High Performance Manger Ben Serpell said.

Mykelti Lefau: Calf, 1-3 weeks

“Mykelti has turned the corner this week, and we are expecting him to be available in about one to three weeks,” Serpell said.

Liam Fawcett: Ankle, 1-3 weeks
Oliver Hayes-Brown: Hamstring 1-3 weeks

“Liam is doing quite well,” Serpell said.

“He came in for an extra footy session yesterday with a few of the other rehab guys, as did Ollie Hayes-Brown, so both of them are expected to be back in about one to three weeks.”

Kane McAuliffe: Quad, 3-5 weeks

“Kane is starting to progress a little bit now, and we are expecting to see him back in about three to five weeks,” Serpell said.

Campbell Gray: Knee, 3-5 weeks

“Campbell Gray should start some change of direction work this week, and hopefully we see him out doing a little bit more footy next week and returning to play in about three to five weeks,” Serpell said.

Samson Ryan: Foot, 3-5 weeks

“Samson Ryan is also getting through a bit of work and we are happy to say that he should be available for our final round of the year,” Serpell said.

Josh Smillie: Conditioning, TBC

“Unfortunately for Smillie, he didn’t quite get through training last week,” Serpell said.

“He is still pulling up a little bit sore, and as it turns out, he has succumbed to the virus that is going through the Club at the moment.

“So, he hasn’t been able to get through training fully for the last week or so.

“We aren’t interested in pushing him at this stage of the year, and we will continue to work with him over the next little while and try and increase his footy loads where possible and make sure we are doing the right thing by him for the long-term.”

Jonty Faull: MCL, Season

“That was unfortunate for Jonty. He has had a great year so far,” Serpell said.

“Scans earlier in the week confirmed that he had a high-grade medial collateral ligament, so that will be his season done.”

Thomson Dow: Patella, Season

“Dowy has also turned the corner a little bit, but just given the time of year we are ready to call it now and say that he isn’t going to be available this season,” Serpell said.
