Demonstrators continue to gather in Boston as Iran War enters third week
THE IMPACT OF THE WAR OVERSEAS. OUR TODD KAZAKIEWICH JOINS US LIVE FROM NEWTON WITH MORE ON THAT. TODD JENNIFER. THE COST OF THE WAR IS TAKING A TOLL IN THE FORM OF RISING GAS PRICES, BUT SOME IRANIAN AMERICANS BELIEVE THAT IS A SHORT TERM SACRIFICE. THEY REMAIN OPTIMISTIC ABOUT REGIME CHANGE AND PEACE IN THE MIDDLE EAST. YOU ARE FREEDOM FOR IRAQ. AS THE WAR IN IRAN ENTERS ITS THIRD WEEK, THESE IRANIAN AMERICANS ARE RALLYING IN COPLEY SQUARE IN SUPPORT OF THE MISSION FOR IRAN. WITH REGIME CHANGE AS THEIR TARGET, WE STILL NEED THE UNITED STATES AND ISRAEL’S HELP TO MAKE SURE THE REGIME FALLS, AND THEN WE WILL HAVE THE TRANSITION HAPPENING BY REZA PAHLAVI, REZA PAHLAVI, REZA PAHLAVI IS AN OPPOSITION LEADER IN IRAN. WHETHER HE ULTIMATELY COMES TO POWER AND REPLACES THE CURRENT REGIME IS YET TO BE SEEN. FORMER CIA SENIOR OFFICER JOHN FRANCHI SAYS A COLLAPSE OF THE CURRENT GOVERNMENT MAY LEAD TO LONG TERM DESTABILIZATION IF IT TOTALLY COLLAPSES. IRAN IS AS COMPLICATED, IF NOT MORE COMPLICATED, THAN IRAQ OR ANY OF THE COUNTRIES IN THAT REGION. YOU COULD HAVE CIVIL WAR, YOU KNOW, DIFFERENT SECTARIAN GROUPS FIGHTING IT OUT FOR DECADES, KIND OF LIKE WHAT WE’VE SEEN IN OTHER PLACES. I DON’T THINK THERE’S ANY DESIRE FOR THAT. I THINK THE DESIRE IS THAT THE LEADERSHIP TAKES A MUCH MORE MODERATE STANCE. THE TOLL OF THE WAR 6000 MILES AWAY CAN BE SEEN WITH THE DIGNIFIED TRANSFER OF EACH FALLEN U.S. SERVICE MEMBER. THE COST OF THE WAR IS ALSO REFLECTED IN THE PRICE AT THE PUMP AND THE BROADER ECONOMY. USA BACK AT THE PRO-WAR RALLY IN CELEBRATION OF THE PERSIAN NEW YEAR, THESE IRANIAN AMERICANS FEEL ANY SACRIFICES ARE AN INVESTMENT IN A MORE PEACEFUL WORLD. NO NUCLEAR IRAN IS MEAN SAFETY IN TERMS OF ENERGY SAFETY, A SAFER STRAIT OF HORMUZ IN THE HANDS OF WHITE PEOPLE MEANS BETTER OIL PRICE, LOWER GAS PRICES. AND ONE FINAL NOTE ON GAS PRICES, TRIPLE A SAYS THE STATEWIDE AVERAGE FOR A GALLON OF REGULAR IS NOW $3.51. THAT IS UP NEARLY FOUR AND A HALF CENTS SINCE YESTERDAY, AND $0.54 SINCE THIS TIME LAST YEAR. REPORTING LIVE I
