The sad passing has been announced of Letterkenny businessman Michael (Mick) Garry, founder of Garry Office Supplies.

Mr Garry, late of Rathdonnell, passed away peacefully on Tuesday in Letterkenny University Hospital, surrounded by family.

“It is with huge regret and heavy hearts that we announce the death of our father, Mick after a period of illness. We are heartbroken, his loss is immeasurable and he was a friend to many. May his gentle soul rest in peace,” said a notice from the Garry family.

Established in 1996, Garry Office Supplies prides itself on being a family-owned company, currently under the management of Mick’s son, Liam.

Mick Garry was a gentleman and a well-known figure in the community, who served on the board of the Letterkenny Credit Union for 30 years before retiring in 2020. A keen golfer, he was also a former Club President and Captain of the Letterkenny Golf Club.

He will be deeply missed by his loving family, wife Eileen (neé Conaghan), sons Paul & Liam, daughters Michelle & Martina, daughter-in-law Sinéad and sons-in-law Tommy & Garrett. Pre-deceased by his parents Roseann & Michael, his siblings Peter, Jim, Jack and Rosemary. He will be fondly remembered by extended family, good neighbours & many friends.

Michael’s remains will be reposing at his late residence today Wednesday 6th August from 6pm to 9pm & from 2pm to 9pm tomorrow Thursday 7th August. Funeral from there on Friday morning 8th August going to St. Columba’s, Kilmacrenan for requiem mass at 11am, followed by interment in the adjacent cemetery.
