UFC Fight Night 269 took place at the Meta APEX (Paramount+).
In the headliner, former interim featherweight title challenger Josh Emmett (19-7 MMA, 11-6 UFC) took on rising star Kevin Vallejos (18-1 MMA, 4-0 UFC). Additionally, former women’s strawweight title challenger Amanda Lemos (15-6-1 MMA, 8-6-1 UFC) met Gillian Robertson (17-8 MMA, 14-6 UFC) in the co-feature, which could determine who gets the next shot at the belt at 115 pounds.

Round 1 – They touch ’em up and Emmett circles wide on the outside. Vallejos offers an early head kick. Vallejos lands a solid calf kick. He closes the distance for punches, but Emmett threatens a level change. Emmett goes high with a kick, but gets caught with a counter left, knocking him off balance. Emmett quickly gets back up. Vallejos continues to score with sharp strikes while controlling the middle. Emmett steps in to trade, but Vallejos blasts him with a punch! Down goes Emmett! Vallejos swarms for the finish! Emmett works his way up, but he’s still not all the way with it. He offers a huge looping punch and takes himself off balance. Vallejos swarms again! Big punches and knees! That’s it! It’s all over in the first round!
Amanda Lemos vs. Gillian Robertson
Round 1 – They meet in the center, and Lemos gets the action started with her left jab. The strike scores repeatedly early on. Robertson kicks to the body. Lemos adds front kicks to the mix. Robertson gets a hold of Lemos, but can’t get her to the ground. Lemos lands a hard leg kick. Lemos punches to the body as Robertson closes in for the single-leg, which she completes. Lemos hits a nice sweep to take top position, but Robertson works for another single. Lemos adds a few elbows to the head. Robertson goes to her back. Lemos keeps elbowing and then decides to slap on a kimura. Robertson scrambles back to top position. We’re back to standing now, with Robertson still attached, looking for another takedown. Lemos explodes free. Lemos lands a few punches and a head kick. 10-9 Lemos.
Round 2 – Lemos picks up where she left off, landing punches and leg kicks. Robertson times a kick to shoot in, and gets the fight to the ground. Lemos tries to grab a guillotine attempt, but it’s not there. Robertson passes to side control. They go to North/South, back to side control. Robertson adds a few short elbows. Lemos tries to explode to her feet, but Robertson maintains top position. More elbows from Robertson, this time to the body. Lemos gets her back to the cage. Robertson lands a few more elbows, before Lemos powers up with a takedown of her own. Lemos stands in the final seconds, and unloads a series of punches. 10-9 Robertson.
Round 3 – Lemos lands a couple of punches before Robertson closes in for the clinch. Lemos shakes her off, and gets back to working her left jab. Robertson charges in for a double and completes the takedown. Lemos stands up as Robertson has the front headlock, but she gets away. Robertson comes right back in for a single-leg attempt. Robertson gets it, but Lemos slaps on an armbar! Robertson gets out and scrambles to side control. Robertson works for a kimura, but it’s not there. Lemos attempts to explode to her feet, but can’t get away. One minute to go. Elbows to the body from Robertson. Elbows to the head now. Lemos gets space as Robertson punches the head. One more explosion from Lemos fails, and Robertson unloads punches until the horn. 10-9 Robertson. She takes the fight 29-28.
Jose Delgado vs. Andre Fili
Round 1 – They meet in the center for the initial leg kick and jab exchanges. Delgado punches and kicks to the body, but Fili rips a quick combo in response. Delgado lands a solid right hand. Delgado goes high with a kick, and charges forward punches, but Fili clips and drops him on the way in with a right hand. Delgado recovers quickly and gets back to his feet. Fili lands a nice body kick. The action slows a little bit as they both look for their openings. Fili comes forward with a right hand, Delgado responds with a head kick. Delgado looks for a right hand, and Fili counters. There’s a nice jab from Fili. A moment later, an overhand right from Fili scores. There’s a nice takedown from Fili, too. Delgado pops up, but Fili keeps hold until the horn. 10-9 Fili.
Round 2 – Delgado comes out firing a kick to the body as Fili punches upstairs. Fili controls from the center, and denies a takedown attempt. The left jab scores for Fili. Delgado goes to the legs with kicks. Fili sits on a left hand, landing cleanly. There’s a hard body kick from Delgado. Delgado unleashes a hellacious flurry of punches and knees from a Thai clinch. Fili stays defensively sound, weathering the moment well. Fili slaps with a head kick. A fast 1-2 lands for Fili. Delgado lands a nice leg kick. Delgado shoots in for a single and gets the takedown with a minute to go. In half guard, Delgado lands a pair of hard elbows before Fili explodes back to his feet. Fili lands a body kick. Delgado closes in, but Fili changes levels for an easy takedown. 10-9 Delgado.
Round 3 – Fili comes out with a big right hand. A hard leg kick is not far behind it. Delgado touches with strikes to keep Fili honest. Fili keeps the center as they circle around the octagon, exchanging single strikes. There’s a nice right hand from Delgado. Fili answers with one of his own. Delgado offers a head kick that is just barely blocked. The action remains steady as they cover every corner of the cage. There’s a big right hand from Delgado that hurts Fili. There’s the clinch from Fili, but Delgado gets free. Delgado kicks to the body. He adds a 1-2 as he begins to pull away offensively. One minute to go. Delgado misses with a right and gets taken down. Fili punches from the backside, but Delgado explodes. Fili gets him back down, and they both just wail on each other until the horn. 10-9 Delgado. He takes the fight 29-28.
Harry Hardwick vs. Marwan Rahiki
Round 1 – A quick tap of the gloves, and we’re off with Rahiki offering a leg kick and a big right hand. Hardwick responds with a kick of his own. Rahiki goes for another kick, gets it caught, and Hardwick jumps on the back. Rahiki stands and shakes Hardwick off without much trouble. Rahiki lands a stiff front kick to the body. They trade punches in the center. Hardwick lands a nice right hand, popping the head back. More kicks are exchanged as they circle around the octagon. Hardwick takes Rahiki off-balance with a kick, but Rahiki pops up and answers with a knee. Hardwick turns up the pressure with punches as he works the right jab. Rahiki lands a solid counter. Rahiki unloads a furious combination of punches, pushing Hardwick backward. Hardwick answers with a flurry of his own, though. Rahiki spins with a body kick right at the horn. 10-9 Rahiki.
Round 2 – Rahiki quickly gets in close range, but it’s Hardwick clipping Rahiki with a nice punch. Rahiki quickly answers, rocking Hardwick with a big shot! Rahiki is swarming with huge punches! Hardwick somehow doesn’t go down, and he fires back, landing flush shots! They reset. Rahiki blasts Hardwick with a clean shot! There’s another insane combo from Rahiki! How is Hardwick still standing? Now it’s Hardwick landing again! This is wild! We’re just midway through the round! Rahiki lands a spinning kick to the body. Hardwick looks for the takedown but gets reversed, ending in full guard. Now things slow down, deservedly so. The fight returns to standing with half a minute to go, and not much else happens before the horn. 10-9 Rahiki.
Between rounds, the fight is called off due to Hardwick’s broken jaw. Wow.
Ion Cutelaba vs. Oumar Sy
Round 1 – No glove touch here. Sy takes the center, talking forward behind a left jab and long kicks. Cutelaba fires back with kicks of his own while finding the range. Cutelaba closes in for the clinch, pushing Sy into the cage, and scoring the trip takedown. Sy reverses the position as he gets to his feet, looking for a single of his own – which he gets. Cutelaba reverses immediately though, taking top control in the middle of the cage. Cutelaba lands punches from the top while Sy threatens leg locks. Cutelaba escapes the leg threat, and keeps top position. Sy turns to his knees. Cutelaba gets the front headlock and then jumps on a guillotine choke! He rolls Sy over and there’s the immediate tap! Woah!
Charles Johnson vs. Bruno Silva
Round 1 – They touch ’em up and get into it with Silva controlling from the center. Johnson darts forward with a punch into a takedown attempt, but Silva keeps the fight standing. Johnson adds a nice punch on the exit. A moment later, Johnson telegraphs a takedown shot from far out, and of course, doesn’t get it. Now Silva closes in for a clinch against the cage. Johnson works his way free without issue. Silva lands a nice right hand as Johnson circles on the outside. Silva clinches again against the fence. Johnson lands a nice short elbow before the separation. Silva comes back with a right hand. Johnson starts putting together a few strikes as he circles, but Silva answers with a kick. They trade punches before the horn. 10-9 Johnson.
Round 2 – They immediately exchange punches to start the round. Silva closes in for the clinch. Johnson adds a knee to the body before the separation. Silva comes right back in for a takedown attempt, but can’t get it. Johnson lands a nice short elbow, and we’re back in the center now. Silva goes low with a quick kick, pausing the fight momentarily. On the restart, Johnson scores with a pair of kicks. Both step in with elbows at the same time, but Silva appeared to land cleaner. Another takedown attempt from Silva is denied. Silva stays in close range, sparking punching exchanges. Silva starts to mount momentum as his strikes land cleaner. Johnson kicks hard to the body. Silva closes in for a takedown, resulting in a clash of heads. The fight is paused by the referee. Immediately on the restart, Silva lands a low blow, causing another break. No point is taken, and the action resumes. Silva gets the better of an exchange before the round ends. 10-9 Silva.
Round 3 – A quick start here with punches and kicks being traded. Johnson turns up the volume, but Silva is quick to clinch up. Johnson keeps the fight standing and lands nicely in the following exchange of punches. Silva clinches, pushing Johnson into the fence again. Johnson gets free and looks for a takedown of his own. Silva defends it, and then lands a nice combination on the exit. Silva turns up the pressure before clinching again. Johnson gets the separation, but finds himself eating a spinning back elbow. Silva stays right in his grill, offering punches before clinching again. Silva drops down for the single, but Johnson scampers away. In the center, Johnson lands a nice knee to the body. Johnson adds a right hand. Now the intensity turns up as they fight through clinch positions in the center of the cage. The strikes are flying from both and there’s a big elbow from Johnson. They’re both just going for it in a wild finish to this one. 10-9 Johnson. He takes this close one, 29-28.
Chris Curtis vs. Myktybek Orolbai
Round 1 – Orolbai offers a few kicks to get the action started, while Curts rips counter punches. Orolbai changes levels for a single and gets the fight to the ground next to the fence. Curtis works his way up quickly, but Orolbai stays attached for the mat return. Curtis gets back to his feet without much issue, but can’t figure out how to get Orolbai off. Orolbai gets Curtis down for a longer period this time as he tries to fully take the back. Curtis gets up again, but still can’t break free. There’s another mat return, and this time, Orolbai gets the back and works for a choke. Curtis tries to scramble free, but Orolbai keeps top control. Now he’s raining down hard ground and pound. The referee calls for Curtis to fight back! Curtis explodes to his feet, but Orolbai rushes in for a takedown and finds the back again. 10-9 Orolbai.
Round 2 – Curtis rips a kick to the body. A two-punch combo follows. Orolbai shoots in to take control of the fight, getting Curtis back to the mat. Orolbai nearly takes the back, working for a choke. Curtis gets back to his feet, but can’t escape the grip. Orolbai continues his smothering as time ticks away. Up and down goes Curtis, right in front of his corner, too. Orolbai is warned to work to improve, but the referee doesn’t separate the fighters. 10-9 Orolbai.
Round 3 – A graphic shows Orolbai set the record for welterweight takedowns with 14 – and 30 seconds into the round, he’s in on another single. Curtis is down again in a familiar position, once again with no answers. Orolbai lifts and nearly spikes Curtis on his head in a hard slam. Up and down again Curtis goes. Orolbai is just relentless with his grappling game here. There’s no damage to Curtis, but Orolbai isn’t allowing anything else to take place. Curtis gets to his feet once more in the closing seconds, finally separating with five seconds left. 10-9 Orolbai. He takes the fight 30-27.
Steven Asplund vs. Vitor Petrino
Round 1 – They touch gloves and Asplund takes the center, firing off a left jab. Petrino rips a left counter. Petrino then goes for a takedown but is easily brushed aside. Asplund goes for a leg kick. Petrino lands a two-punch combo before shooting in. He sells all the way out for it, but Asplund keeps the fight standing. They return to the center, now with Petrino in the center. Asplund lands a kick to the body. Petrino answers with a hard combo. Damage is showing under Asplund’s right eye. They trade punches, but it’s Asplund clipping Petrino! Asplund goes in for the finish as Petrino tries to survive the swarm. Asplund doesn’t get the finish, and they’re back on their feet in the center. Asplund offers a couple of taunts before the round comes to a close. 10-9 Asplund.
Round 2 – They touch ’em up again and get right back into it, exchanging kicks. A big right kick from Petrino catches Asplund off balance, knocking him to the mat. Petrino rushes in to take the back, and clamps on a rear-naked choke. Asplund gets out, and back to his feet with Petrino still attached on the back. They reset to the center. Petrino lands a solid left. Fatigue is apparent now in both fighters as Asplund stalks forward. Petrino keeps firing the left hand. Petrino just misses the mark with a big right hand. Petrino lands a hard three-punch combo, but Asplund just eats it. Petrino continues to pick his shots while circling, and taking breaks between offerings. Asplund closes in trying to get something going, but he can’t find Petrino. Petrino sends Asplund’s mouthpiece flying with a clean punch. 10-9 Petrino.
Round 3 – They embrace to start the final round. Petrino lands a clean left hand. Asplund stalks and lands a hard right hand, wobbling Petrino – but Petrino just unloads a vicious combo to prevent Asplund from landing again! Asplund’s face is a bloody mess now. Petrino continues to land clean strikes to the legs and head. Asplund comes forward with a combination midway through the round. Petrino kicks to the body twice. Asplund looks for the clinch, but gets shaken off and tagged with a left. Asplund swings with a punch, but gets his leg taken out with a hard inside kick. Asplund gets right back up. There’s a left from Asplund. Petrino gets on his bike, then comes back in with a body shot. Asplund stalks Petrino as the final seconds tick away, and they stand and trade in a heated exchange in the final moments. 10-9 Petrino. He takes the fight 29-28.
Elijah Smith vs. SuYoung You
Round 1 – A quick glove touch starts this one. Smith takes the center, pumping out a left jab. There’s a 1-2 from Smith. You closes in and gets blasted with a knee to the jaw. He sticks with the takedown attempt, and gets reversed. Smith takes top position, but You gets back to his feet quickly. You keeps the body lock and gets a takedown. You takes the back as Smith attempts to scramble free. You stays attached, carries Smith to the center, and eventually gets him down again. You takes the back again. Smith patiently works his way to top position. You stands up as Smith stays attached. You gets control of the position again and scores another takedown before the horn. 10-9 You.
Round 2 – Smith lands a nice two-punch combo as You closes in. You closes in for a takedown attempt, but gets lit up with a combination. You stumbles, and Smith rushes in to capitalize. He ends up on You’s back and slaps on a rear-naked choke. It’s tight! There’s the tap!
Bolaji Oki vs. Manoel Sousa
Round 1 – They touch gloves to start, and Oki lands the first strike, an outside leg kick. Oki goes for a couple more. Sousa stalks forward and lands a big right hand to drop Oki! Sousa swarms for the finish! Oki defends himself, and is still with it. Sousa takes top position and wraps up a kimura. Oki lifts and dumps Sousa to the canvas, but the kimura is still locked on. From the top, Oki lands a few short elbows to the body. He gets his arm out of danger, and stays heavy on top. They return to standing position, but Oki stays clinched as they both offer short strikes. Sousa lands a punch after the separation as they trade before the horn. 10-9 Sousa.
Round 2 – They quickly touch gloves again. Sousa rushes in and gets clipped by a hard right hand! He appears a little wobbly as he unsuccessfully tries to grab hold of Oki. They reset to the center. Oki presses forward behind a left jab. Sousa swings wildly with an overhand right. They trade in the center. A leg kick knocks Sousa off balance to the mat, but he pops right back up. Sousa comes in swinging punches, but Oki grabs the clinch. Oki lands a short punch to the body and then upstairs. Back to the middle now. Sousa slaps with a leg kick. Sousa rips a hook to the body, but gets countered to the head. Oki frames and pushes off, getting a finger in the eye. Sousa immediately backs off as the referee calls time. The fight resumes after Sousa is checked on by the doctor. On the restart, Sousa applies forward pressure, swinging powerful shots. Oki circles away, but gets clipped with a punch before the horn. 10-9 Oki.
Round 3 – Oki pumps out the left jab as he circles. Sousa fires back, adding a hard leg kick. Sousa adds a couple more leg kicks and lands a stiff right hand. Oki kicks to the body and then steps in with a knee to the midsection. Sousa rips a right hand followed by a hard body shot. Sousa looks for a single leg, but gets denied. Sousa continues to fire first behind the right hand. There’s a stiff left from Sousa and another hard body shot. Sousa looks to be pulling away on volume alone. More clean strikes from Sousa find the mark. Oki looks for the clinch, but gets shucked off. Sousa lands a combo. Now Oki charges forward, landing cleanly. Sousa clinches and lands a left on the exit. There’s another left from Sousa. There’s a huge right hand from Sousa to put Oki down and out! No follow-up needed! Incredible finish!
Eryk Anders vs. Brad Tavares
Round 1 – They touch gloves and Tavares gets going behind a left jab. There’s a hard kick to the body from Tavares. Anders closes in for a single-leg attempt, but Tavares keeps it standing. Anders adds a few short strikes while keeping Tavares against the fence. Anders lands an elbow on the separation. Tavares resets and offers a slapping head kick. Anders looks for the takedown again, resulting in a heated exchange along the fence. Tavares lands another strong kick to the body. Anders shoots in again and is denied again. Tavares lands a right uppercut as Anders closes in for another clinch. They trade strikes on the exit, and Anders clips Tavares with a clean strike! Tavares stumbles to the canvas and Anders swarms! Tavares stays in it and resets. Anders closes the distance, and rocks Tavares again with a right! He’s swarming again, but there’s the horn. 10-9 Anders.
Round 2 – Tavares opens with kicks to the body and legs. Anders closes in along the fence, but Tavares lands a nice right hand before circling out. Anders gets the clinch a moment later, working for a single-leg takedown. Tavares leaps with a knee, but misses the target. Anders gets the clinch into the fence. Tavares gets free, and takes himself off balance with a kick. Tavares circles and lands a huge right hand, dropping Anders! Tavares swarms, trying to take the back. He gets too high, slides off, but looks for a triangle. It’s not there and now Anders punches from the top. Anders ends up with back control as Tavares attempts to scramble. Tavares makes his way to the fence, and they return to standing. Anders is back in on a single-leg. Tavares gets free. Anders offers a head kick just before the horn. 10-9 Tavares.
Round 3 – Right back to the action, Tavares lands a right as Anders closes in. They reset momentarily, and now Anders gets the takedown, but it’s short-lived. Anders keeps clinching for a moment before Tavares gets free. Anders gets right back in, and Tavares hits a nice hip toss counter. Anders scrambles back to his feet quickly, though. Tavares steps in with a right elbow. There’s a clean 1-2 from Tavares as well. Anders answers with a pair of stiff left hands. Anders gets a strong lift and dump to the mat, taking side control. Tavares scrambles to his feet, but gets dragged back to the mat. Tavares gets back to his feet with 30 seconds to go and tries to unload with strikes, but Anders gets another takedown. The counter guillotine for Tavares isn’t there, and that’s it. 10-9 Anders. He takes the fight 29-28.
Bia Mesquita vs. Montserrat Rendon
Round 1 – No touch here. Rendon closes the distance behind an active jab. Mesquita clips and wobbles her with a counter punch! Mesquita swarms with punches! Rendon is in survival mode early. Mesquita takes full mount and is raining down strikes! Mesquita takes a pause while maintaining mount as Rendon is doing well to stay in the fight, all things considered. Rendon nearly powers up for a reversal, but Mesquita floats to the back, slaps on a rear-naked choke, and there’s the quick tap! Wow!
Luan Lacerda vs. Hecher Sosa
Round 1 – They touch ’em up, and Sosa opens the action with leg kicks. Lacerda lands a leg kick with a cracking sound. Sosa lands a combination as Lacerda loses his balance. Lacerda pops up and comes forward with punches before getting a body lock. Lacerda gets the single leg takedown, but Sosa is very active from his back and gets the fight back to standing. They both unload heavy punches. Very fast pace here just midway through. Lacerda gets hold of Sosa, looking for knees to the body. Lacerda lets go, throws an elbow, and then changes levels for the takedown. Sosa gets up quickly with Lacerda attached. Lacerda lands a big knee to the face, but Sosa eats it. Sosa comes back with a big 1-2 a moment later. Lacerda lands a nice body kick and left hand. 10-9 Lacerda.
Round 2 – They get right back into the action, exchanging heavy punches and kicks. Lacerda looks for a spinning back kick, but Sosa was ready for it. Sosa fires first, landing a clean left. Now it’s Sosa with a spinning backfist. Lacerda catches Sosa with a clean left hand. There’s another level change from Lacerda, but Sosa defends well. Lacerda presses forward as Sosa appears to be slowing down a bit. Sosa blitzes forward and lands a big right hand. Sosa goes body-head. Lacerda keeps the center, returning fire nicely. There’s another spin from Sosa, but he doesn’t fully connect. Lacerda looks for the takedown, but the clinch gets reversed by Sosa. In close, Sosa unloads a series of clean punches. They separate, and Sosa gets the better of the final exchange. 10-9 Sosa.
Round 3 – Lacerda gets a quick takedown, but Sosa gets back to his feet immediately. Sosa offers a combination on the exit. Lacerda kicks to the body nicely. Sosa answers with a teep. Lacerda offers a hard leg kick, taking a right hand from Sosa in return. Lacerda gestures to the center of the cage. There’s a nice body kick from Lacerda. They clinch up along the fence, and Sosa tries to tee off with knees and short punches. Lacerda gets free. They trade more strikes before Sosa gets put on his back. Lacerda tries to tell the referee he was poked in the eye, but isn’t granted a pause. Sosa takes advantage with a punch. Lacerda keeps coming forward as Sosa counters. Sosa lands nicely with a right hand before Lacerda looks for a takedown. Lacerda lands knees to the body, but Sosa shakes free and lands a few punches before the horn. 10-9 Sosa. He takes the fight 29-28.
Sam Hughes vs. Piera Rodriguez 2
Round 1 – Rodriguez opens the action with a quick 1-2. Hughes looks to answer with leg kicks. Rodriguez leads the striking exchanges with sharp, powerful punches before clinching up. They separate and get back to trading, but there’s an eye poke to Rodriguez, pausing the action. It’s a short break, and the action resumes. More calf kicks from Hughes as Rodriguez continues to head hunt. There’s another takedown attempt, but it’s stopped by Hughes. Now Hughes works punches upstairs, but Rodriguez lands a hard right before searching for the single. It’s not there, and Hughes looks for the takedown this time. They return to the center, trading punches. In the clinch again, there’s solid knees and elbows from Rodriguez. One more strong combo from Rodriguez before the horn. 10-9 Rodriguez.
Round 2 – Hughes sticks with the calf kick approach as Rodriguez stalks forward. Hughes lands a nice body-head combo. Rodriguez answers with a nice combo. Hughes shoots in, but can’t get the takedown. Rodriguez grabs a Thai clinch and drills a couple of knees to the body. Rodriguez keeps the pressure high along the fence. She gets another Thai clinch, and gets the takedown off this one midway through the round. Hughes looks for a triangle setup from her back, but can’t get it. Back to standing, where Rodriguez lands a combo. Damage on Hughes’ face is showing now, bleeding from the bridge of her nose. Another strong combo from Rodriguez closes out the round. 10-9 Rodriguez.
Round 3 – Hughes’ corner told her she’s down two rounds and needs to turn up the volume. She comes out pumping a jab, but doesn’t commit to combos. Instead, it’s Rodriguez blitzing with punches, landing well before looking for the takedown. The fight remains standing, and Rodriguez keeps coming forward, leading the striking battle. Midway through the round and Hughes has not changed the course of the fight as she pumps a left jab. Rodriguez gets knees in the clinch. After the separation, Rodriguez continues to put together cleaner punches as she maintains her aggression. 10-9 Rodriguez. She takes the fight 30-27.
