A multi-vehicle crash involving a jackknifed transport truck that blocked the westbound express lanes of Highway 401 in North York early Sunday morning has now been cleared.

Earlier in the day, Ontario Provincial Police told CP24 the collision happened at about 7:45 a.m. on the westbound express lanes of Highway 401 just west of Highway 404.

Police say three vehicles and a transport truck were involved in the crash. As a result of the collision, the transport truck jackknifed and ended up blocking the express lanes in the area.

CP24’s traffic cameras earlier showed the tractor trailer stretched across the lanes, preventing vehicles from getting through while crews responded.

In an update posted to social media at 10:14 a.m., OPP said the westbound express lanes on Highway 401 have now fully reopened following the investigation and cleanup.

Police say no injuries were reported.

The crash came as weather experts warned of hazardous driving conditions across the city.

A Special Weather Statement issued by Environment Canada remains in effect for Toronto due to ongoing winter weather.
