Nottingham Forest were denied a win against Fulham in pretty cruel circumstances after a Dan Ndoye goal was chalked off for offside.

Forest thought they’d taken the lead in the 64th minute when Ndoye raced onto a Neco Williams pass and slotted the ball beyond Bernd Leno.

Who was your Man of the Match vs Fulham?

However, after a lengthy VAR check, Forest were left frustrated after it emerged that Ndoye was offside by millimetres, with Fulham getting let off the hook.

Vitor Pereira still hasn’t tasted success in the Premier League as the Forest head coach, and things remain perilous towards the foot of the table.

The decision to deny the goal scored by Ndoye is probably the correct one in law, but the game of football has changed for the worse.

Ndoye is literally gaining no advantage, and only his heel is offside, much to the dismay of Forest, who were left very frustrated.

The Premier League match centre posted on X: “VAR checked the referee’s call of goal – and established that Ndoye was in an offside position and recommended that the goal was disallowed.”

Ndoye was in fine form after stepping off the bench and also won a penalty for Forest during the game, with VAR signalling he was offside in the build-up to that one too.

The City Ground erupted when it looked as though Ndoye had given Forest a huge lead in the game against Fulham, but the celebrations proved short-lived.

As soon as the screen suggests that something is being checked, there is always something in the back of the mind of a supporter that just doesn’t feel right.

Ndoye’s goal saw him in no way try to gain an advantage, and ultimately, it’s a sorry state of affairs when football is being robbed of goals over a matter of a heel or a toenail!

It’s time for the powers that be to get their act together with these types of decisions, and nobody thinks football is better for this sort of situation being overturned.
