Beloved Malayalam actress Bhama has made a long-awaited return to the silver screen after an eight-year hiatus with the film Sumathi Valavu. In the movie, Bhama plays the role of Malu, marking her re-entry into Malayalam cinema with a remarkable performance.
Bhama began her acting career as a child artist in director Shashi Shankar’s film Manthramothiram. She later rose to become one of the leading actresses in Malayalam cinema. Now, in a beautiful full-circle moment, she returns to the industry in Sumathi Valavu, a film directed by Vishnu Shashi Shankar, the son of her debut film’s director.
The film has made a strong opening at the box office, collecting over ₹1 crore on its working day on Tuesday alone. In just five days, Sumathi Valavu has grossed more than ₹12 crore, indicating a warm reception from audiences.
The film is penned by Abhilash Pillai and features music by Ranjin Raj. It is jointly produced by Sree Gokulam Gopalan’s Sree Gokulam Movies and Murali Kunnumpurath’s Waterman Films.
Sumathi Valavu – star-studded cast
The film boasts an impressive ensemble cast – Arjun Ashokan, Balu Varghese, Gokul Suresh, Saiju Kurup, Siddharth Bharathan, Shravan Mukesh, Nandu, Manoj KU, Sreejith Ravi, Bobby Kurien, Abhilash Pillai, Sripath Yan, Jayakrishnan, Kottayam Ramesh, Sumesh Chandran, Chembil Ashokan, Vijayakumar, Shiva Ajayan, Rafi, Manoj Kumar, Master Anirudh, Malavika Manoj, Juhi Jayakumar, Gopika Anil, Shivada, Sijoy Varghese, Devananda, Jesniya Jayadeesh, Sminu Sijo, Geethi Sangeetha and Ashwathi Abhilash.
The audio rights of Sumathi Valavu have been acquired by Music 24×7.
