It was the PSG players who left the Champions League Round of 16 side with credit, however goalscorer Khvicha Kvaratskhelia was still full of praise for the Chelsea players.

It ended up being an 8-2 aggregate scoreline against the Blues, with any faint hopes of a comeback victory put to bed by Kvaratskhelia’s early goal.

This came from an error from Mamadou Sarr, whose own problems summed up the defensive problems Chelsea had throughout the two-legged tie.

Do you think Chelsea should sack Liam Rosenior? Or are you willing to give him more time?🤔

Despite it being all doom and gloom in the Chelsea camp, the Georgian winger believes the Blues were actually impressive, and had a number of good opportunities to score on Wednesday night.

When asked if it was easy, he said to Hayters TV: “No, of course it was not, Chelsea are an amazing team. I think they did a great job, they had many chances to score, but our goalkeeper was very good during the game. He saved lots of shots, we’re very happy we won today, but it was very difficult and deserved.”

Chelsea registered a similar xG to their opponents in both legs, however the reality is that the Blues were on the end of their heaviest defeat in Champions League knockout history.

There were a number of players who came out of the tie with credit. French media praised Andrey Santos, however it is unclear whether that is just because he has a tenure playing for a Ligue 1 side in Strasbourg.

Fans started to boo some of Rosenior’s decisions in the second leg of the tie, with their frustration at the situation threatening to reach boiling point.

While his job is not currently at risk, Chelsea need to secure Champions League qualification this season or there are going to be serious questions asked of the new man in charge.

This will need the Blues to perform somewhat of a turnaround of their Premier League form. They currently have just one win from their last five league games.

The next test will be away at Everton on Saturday, where they will need to not lose more ground on Liverpool and Aston Villa around them.
