After giving champions Chelsea plenty of problems in their midweek defeat, Brighton looked lively again in attack against Liverpool – particularly in the opening 45 minutes.
But just as they did against Chelsea, they failed to make those chances count.
Kafaji was their biggest threat but she was unable to chip over Falk after latching on to a brilliant ball over the top by Maisie Symonds, and Jenna Clark was there to head another effort from the Arsenal loanee off the line.
In a frantic end, Falk came to Liverpool’s rescue in stoppage time when she expertly tipped Manuela Vanegas’ header off the crossbar.
Nnadozie was also called into late action at the other end, parrying away Aurelie Csillag’s effort before Maelys Mpome made a sensational goalline clearance in the dying seconds, stopping Martha Thomas’ deflected header from trickling in and giving Liverpool their first away win in the league this season.
Despite not backing up their victory over Leicester last weekend, Liverpool can take positives from their visit to the south coast.
Having struggled to pick up points early in the season, Taylor’s team have now claimed 10 points from their past six games – losing only to Manchester United and Chelsea – and they appear to be in a much better place heading into the business end of the season than bottom-placed Leicester.
