London | If Iran doesn’t buckle in response to US President Donald Trump’s ultimatum to lift its de facto blockade of the Strait of Hormuz, a military campaign to prise it open would require significant land, naval and air power, with the big unknown the danger that lurks underneath the water.
The stalemate over the strait, which has halted shipments of up to a fifth of the world’s oil supply, shows no sign of ending as the US and Israel’s war against Iran enters its fourth week.
