REGINA — Residents near Lac Pelletier in southwestern Saskatchewan say there has been another spill from a feedlot next to the lake.
The Friends of Lac Pelletier said this is the second spill from the intensive livestock operation owned by Monette Farms. The first was last summer.

Industry leaders say protein is “having a moment” and they don’t think it is a fad.
In a news release, the organization said the spill moved out of the ILO’s catchment area into a ditch that runs into a spillway tributary which feeds the lake.
The group contacted the provincial spill control emergency late last week, but still hadn’t been contacted two days later.
“We have called the Spill Control Line twice to report the issue. The second time, after asking why we have not been given an update about any control measures, we were told the issue has been referred to the Ministry of Agriculture and that they don’t work weekends” said Dan Kane, a representative for the association.
“Unfortunately, in my experience, emergencies do happen on a weekend.”
He said they are concerned about what will happen next and asked where their MLA, agriculture minister David Marit, is.
The agriculture ministry approved the feedlot’s plan and its containment procedures, but Kane said the plan has clearly failed.
About 250 people live year-round at the lake south of Swift Current, and about 5,000 people visit each summer.
Monette Farms has not yet commented.
