The Digital Health: Planning National Systems (DHPNS) course continues to gain momentum across the WHO African Region. With its blended learning format, combining self-paced online modules and expert-led in-person session, the course has already empowered over 200 participants from English-, French-, and Portuguese-speaking countries. This strong uptake reflects both the growing demand and the strategic importance of strengthening national digital health planning.
To build on this success and further scale up regional capacity, WHO, through the Department of Digital Health and Innovation (Capacity Building and Partnerships Unit), the WHO Academy, and the Regional Office for Africa (Research, Digital Health and Innovation Unit) will launch a new Training-of-Trainers (TOT) programme in August 2025.
Programme overview
This initiative aims to create a dynamic network of qualified trainers from within WHO staff in the Region. These trainers will be equipped to deliver the DHPNS course and lead national and regional capacity-building efforts in digital health.
Led by certified DHPNS facilitators and WHO Academy-trained experts, the programme ensures pedagogical consistency and technical excellence.
