‘A serious threat to car buyers’: Provincial motor vehicles council has revoked the registration of Andy Boston Motors and is warning buyers to stay away

The provincial motor vehicles council is warning the public against buying a car from Andy Boston Motors, a Trunk Road dealership it says is operating illegally.

Last November, the Ontario Motor Vehicles Industry Council revoked the registration of T.A. Boston Auto Sales Ltd. and its director, Andy Boston, who has continued to operate despite being unlicensed.

“This is illegal and poses a serious threat to car buyers,” said a press release issued by OMVIC.

Customers who purchase a vehicle from Andy Boston Motors, or any other unregistered dealership, are at risk of financial loss, the release said, “as they are not protected under the Motor Vehicle Dealers Act (MVDA) or the Consumer Protection Act.”

“Andy Boston and Andy Boston Motors are not legally authorized to sell vehicles in Ontario, and doing so is a violation of the MVDA.”

SooToday contacted Boston following the new release. He did not dispute the news release and said he plans to retire soon.

“Once we get rid of our existing inventory, we’re retiring,” Boston said, adding he has not purchased new inventory.

Prospective vehicle buyers can check a dealership’s legitimacy with the OMVIC dealer search tool.
