A Garner mother is facing felony charges after not seeking medical attention for her two-year-old’s broken arm, police said.
Tamika Smith, 23, was arrested Wednesday by Garner police and was charged with two felony counts of intentional child abuse causing serious bodily injury.
Court documents say that Smith knowingly failed to provide medical care for her two-year-old, who had a broken bone in the upper arm. The lack of medical attention resulted in “prolonging pain and suffering” to the child.
Smith is being held in Wake County. Her first court appearance is at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday.
