A driver in Poland was lucky to survive after their van was trapped at a level crossing and obliterated by an oncoming train.
According to Reuters, the crash occurred on Wednesday (local time) in the small village of Wola Filipowska.
Video from the incident shows the van making a late attempt to clear the level crossing, just as the barriers began to lower and its lights were flashing.
It became trapped, with the driver frantically trying to get out of the way of the oncoming train.
The train smashed into the back of the van, disintegrating its rear, sending debris flying.

According to Malopolska Police, the truck driver survived the crash without injury. No-one aboard the train was injured either.
“Investigations into the case are ongoing under the supervision of the prosecutor’s office,” police said.
It said the crash was a reminder for drivers to stop and look before a level crossing and not to enter the crossing if the barriers were lowering or the lights were flashing.
“Failure to follow these rules can result in a tragic accident. A train can appear at any moment – this is no place to take risks.”
