Tributes have poured in for a 14-year-old boy from Leitrim who sadly passed away recently after a short illness.
He was deeply loved by his heartbroken mum and dad Mairéad and Michael, sister Annie and brother Joe, his godparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, relatives and his many friends.
Paddy loved playing music and was a great banjo player, according to people who left tributes on his RIP.
Funeral Arrangements:
Paddy will repose at his family home on Saturday 9th of August from 2pm to 7pm. Removal from his family home on Sunday for Funeral Mass in St. Clare’s Church, Manorhamilton at 2.30pm followed by burial in Diffreen Cemetery. Donations if desired can be made to The Gavin Glynn Foundation.
Glenfarne CCE made a tribute piece for the young boy which reads: “Sending our deepest sympathies to Michael, Mairead, Annie and Joe Rooney on the sad passing of their darling son and brother Paddy. We extend our heartfelt condolences to all members of the Rooney family circle. Know that you are in all our thoughts and prayers over the days and weeks ahead.
“Paddy was a treasured member of Glenfarne CCE, a well known all Ireland champion on the banjo. We were blessed with his performances at all our concerts and local events – including our culture night in September last year. We must take time to pay a special tribute to Paddy, who fought his illness all the way, so courageously, supported by his loving family. Unfortunately, God called Paddy home – much earlier than expected.
“We are heartbroken at your loss. Paddy, thanks for the wonderful memories. We will never forget your kindness, and your gift of music – so generously shared with us all. You will remain in our hearts forever. Your suffering is over now. May you Rest In Peace. Slán go fóill a chara”.
Heartfelt messages have been left on RIP.ie for Paddy, with one mourner writing,

We admired how he fought his illness like the true champion he was with his music, and we are sure that his achievements in his short life will always be a great consolation to you. You are in our thoughts and prayers at this most difficult of times. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam dilis”.

Please know you are in our thoughts, prayers and hearts. Sending you love and strength over the coming difficult days. With deepest sympathy to you all and to Paddy’s extended family and friends, Laura, Gary, James, Kate and, your buddy always, Jack.
