Multiple police cordons are in place in the city centre this morning

Multiple streets in Liverpool city centre have been sealed off. There are currently cordons in place on Button Street, Mathew Street, Victoria Street and part of Whitechapel.
Large portions of the Cavern Quarter were cordoned off by police this morning, Monday April 6, with police tape being further extended onto Whitechapel and the side of HSBC bank.
Refuse collectors working in the city centre were turned away from the street by police officers guarding the cordon.
Merseyside Police were approached for comment, but declined to elaborate further than there is currently no ongoing risk to the public.
