Manchester United striker Joshua Zirkzee has ‘liked’ a social media post showing Benjamin Sesko on a private jet after reaching an ‘agreement in principle’ over a move. According to reports, Ruben Amorim’s side have struck a deal with RB Leipzig over a deal for the 22-year-old Slovenian in a blockbuster deal at Old Trafford.

United look set to beat Newcastle to his signature in another blow for the Magpies in this summer transfer window. The Athletic has claimed that a deal worth €76.5million (£66.4m) and €8.5m in add-ons is in place with Sesko granted permission to travel to Manchester for his medical.

Eddie Howe’s side had launched two bids, the second being accepted by the Bundesliga side, however United entered the race for his signature and it soon became apparent that Sesko’s preference was the North West.

On Thursday, it was widely reported that Sesko was progressing towards becoming a Manchester United player and Fabrizio Romano posted a picture to his Instagram with the attacker posing alongside his agent.

In a post, which appeared to be liked by the United striker, Zirkzee, the reporter said: “Benjamin Å eÅ¡ko and his agent Elvis Basanović, on the way to Manchester.

“The first exclusive pic of Å eÅ¡ko since becoming new Manchester United player, the only club he wanted.

“Å eÅ¡ko is landing tonight, then set for medicals and signature… unveiling Saturday at Old Trafford.”

The move for United poses questions surrounding attacking options for the Portuguese tactician after an emphasis on reinforcing his front line this summer.

Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo have added Premier League quality and in recent weeks, Rasmus Hojlund has spoken out about his future and expressed a desire to fight for his place but the MEN reported this week he may be forced to leave should Sesko join.

“I think my plan is very clear and that is for me to stay and fight for my spot, whatever happens,” he said.

“I’m still very young. I think people forget that sometimes. I’m only 22.

“Obviously, not every striker is scoring 100 goals at the age of 22 (like Erling Haaland).

“But I’ve learned a lot, I think you can see in my game. I’m starting to develop and become even better in the basics.

“Now it’s just about for me to sharpen myself and I’ve done very well in the pre-season so far. Just focusing on continuing that.

“Competition is fine with me. It sharpens me. I’m more than ready. I’m feeling sharp, so I’m welcoming everything that comes. I think it’s good with competition and it only sharpens the team.”
