A man from Badger, N.L., has been charged with first-degree murder in the death of a woman in Grand Falls-Windsor Friday morning.
Ivan Loder, 52, appeared in court virtually from Grand Falls-Windsor, where he is being held, before a judge in St. John’s. He has been remanded back into custody with a future court date.
Police responded to a call for assistance to a home on Crescent Heights at around 4:45 a.m. Friday, according to a news release. It prompted a public advisory to avoid the area.
The news release issued just after 4 p.m. said the woman was found dead in the home.
Police said Loder and the woman knew each other.
An investigation into the death is continuing, police said and the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.
This comes on the heels of an incident two days ago that sent one person to hospital after police responded to a home on Main Street shortly after 2:30 p.m. Another person was found dead near a vehicle that police say was used by the suspect to flee the scene.
Police have not explicitly confirmed the deceased person was, in fact, the suspect, but say no other person was involved.Â
That incident is still under investigation.
Police say the incident that happened Friday in the Crescent Heights area is not connected to the ongoing investigation into the shooting that happened earlier in the week.
