RALEIGH, N.C. (WTVD) — Six people were stabbed early Saturday morning along Fayetteville Street in downtown Raleigh, according to police.
Raleigh police responded at 12:18 a.m. to a reported fight in the 200 block of Fayetteville Street. When officers arrived, they found multiple people suffering from stab wounds.
Frank Lalich, 35, was charged with four counts of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to seriously injure, police said. Lalich remains hospitalized, recovering from his own injuries.
Authorities said a fight broke out between Lalich and a group of people, leading to the stabbings.
Six stab victims were taken to a hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
Raleigh Police Chief Rico Boyce addressed the incident in a statement Saturday:
“Last night, many members of our community witnessed a traumatic event on Fayetteville Street. We recognize the impact incidents like this can have and extend our concern to all those affected. I want to commend our officers for their swift response and the aid they provided at the scene. Acts of violence such as this are unacceptable and will not be tolerated in our city. The safety and well-being of our community remain our highest priority”
The investigation is ongoing.
