A man originally from Lower Sackville is now facing additional fraud-related charges in a case that police allege saw the man pretend to be a car dealership broker.
According to the RCMP, the fake car dealer defrauded Nova Scotians between 2022 and 2024.
“He offered fake financing plans, collected deposits from prospective buyers via e-transfer, and then cut off contact with them,” police wrote in a media release. “He often used the identity of a deceased Nova Scotian to conceal his own when communicating with others about the fraudulent sales.”
Nicholas Eugene Croscup, 44, was arrested last August in Regina, Saskatchewan, on five outstanding arrest warrants in Nova Scotia.
Police have now laid additional charges, including fraud over $5,000, nine counts of fraud under $5,000, two counts of identity theft and possession of the proceeds of crime.
Croscup was released on conditions on his previous charges, according to police, and will answer to the new charges in Shubenacadie Provincial Court in October.
