The 2026 WNBA Draft is in the books, and for the second year in a row, the Dallas Wings selected a UConn guard with the No. 1 overall pick. This time around, it was Azzi Fudd, who will reunite with national championship teammate Paige Bueckers, last year’s first pick, the 2025 Rookie of the Year — and Fudd’s girlfriend.

With Fudd off the board, TCU’s Olivia Miles went second to the Minnesota Lynx. Spanish center Awa Fam was up next at No. 3 to the Seattle Storm, followed by UCLA stars Lauren Betts and Gabriela Jaquez to the Washington Mystics and Chicago Sky at picks No. 4 and 5, respectively, to round out the lottery.

UCLA won the 2026 women’s NCAA Tournament just eight days ago, and a whopping five Bruins were selected in the first round. There was even a run of three straight as Betts, Jaquez and Kiki Rice were picks No. 4 through 6. Later, Angela Dugalić was selected ninth and Gianna Kneepkens rounded out the first round at No. 15. When Charlisse Leger-Walker was selected early in the second round at No. 18, UCLA made history with a record sixth pick in one draft.

The other big story of the night was a stunning trade between the Golden State Valkyries and the Storm. Shortly after selecting LSU star Flau’jae Johnson at No. 8, the Valkyries traded Johnson to the Storm for TCU forward Marta Suarez (No. 16) and a 2028 second-round pick. The baffling deal was widely panned and makes little sense for the Valkyries, but is a major win for the Storm, who now have an exciting young core of Fam, Johnson, Dominique Malonga and Ezi Magbegor.

Forty-five total picks were made in Monday’s three-round affair. CBS Sports graded all 15 of the first-round selections.
