WATERTOWN, New York (WWNY) – Senator Kirsten Gillibrand is among more than 10 Democratic senators pushing to end the war in Iran.
Gillibrand held a press conference on Monday with several of her colleagues to announce a new wave of War Powers resolutions that can be used to force a vote to stop the war.
Gillibrand says the war, which she deems unconstitutional, is endangering American troops, jeopardizing national security, and forcing rising costs on New Yorkers.
She has continued to accuse President Donald Trump of breaking the law by not seeking congressional approval before ordering the strikes in Iran.
“The American people will not stand for this kind of presidency and this war. He doesn’t have a strategy. He is reckless, and quite frankly, he is insane. This is why we are introducing these war powers resolutions. New Yorkers deserve a better President than what President Trump has been doing,” said Senator Gillibrand.
A separate vote is expected in the House of Representatives. Previous votes in both the Senate and House have failed.
