Kane and Son combined for 47 Premier League goals during their eight years together at Spurs, which is comfortably more than any other partnership in the competition’s history.
The England captain, who played and scored for Bayern in their 4-0 win over his former side on Thursday, has now spoken about the connection he shared with Son and wished his former teammate the best in Los Angeles FC.
When asked about Son’s departure from Spurs, Kane said (via Reuters): “Massive congratulations to him and his career at Tottenham. First and foremost, a great person. I’ve got to know him really well as a friend, and just how humble he is and how good a guy he is.
“I think as a player, you know, we had one of the best partnerships in Premier League history. We just had that connection that we loved.
“It’s a great way for his Tottenham Hotspur career to end, to lift the trophy last year with the team… and now it’s a new chapter for him, he’ll go to LA, and I wish him all the best, and I hope to see him soon and we can catch up.”
Classy reason why Son decided against staying one more year
The South Korean showed tremendous loyalty to Spurs during the last ten years and did so again while deciding to exit the club.
According to reports, Son wanted Tottenham to get a transfer fee for him, which is why he decided against staying for one more year, even though Thomas Frank wanted to keep him.
Additionally, Son rejected advances from Barcelona and other big European clubs last season before his one-year contract extension was activated back in January.
