Nottingham Forest beat Porto 1-0 to progress to the semi-final of the Europa League – but the win came at a cost.

Forest opened the scoring in the 13th minute when Morgan Gibbs-White smashed home just five minutes after Jan Bednarek had been shown a straight red card.

Phew… what did you make of that Forest fans! 😅

Nottingham Forest vs Porto full-time.

Vitor Pereira saw his team waste a host of chances to kill the game in the first half, and Porto gave it everything in the second period, hitting the bar on two occasions.

However, it feels as though the win has come at a cost, with Murillo, Chris Wood and Callum Hudson-Odoi all being forced off with some problems to contend with.

Callum Hudson-Odoi spotted on crutches

Pereira confirmed after the game that both Wood and Murillo could make full recoveries in time to play against Burnley on Sunday.

However, he was more reserved regarding Hudson-Odoi, and the former Chelsea player left the City Ground on crutches, having been spotted by a journalist.

Hudson-Odoi looked absolutely devastated as he walked off the pitch, and having been injured in the past, it’s clearly something that is concerning him.

Now, Forest will have to wait for a prognosis and hope that Hudson-Odoi is available to make more appearances before the season is out.

Forest face Burnley on Sunday and Pereira might be forgiven for wrapping his players in cotton wool ahead of that one and letting many stars rest up.

Forest will be delighted to reach the semi-finals of such a prestigious competition, but now the focus must switch back to the Premier League.

Hudson-Odoi is an important player on his day and the hope will be that he can recover quickly from this latest setback.
