DENVER — The 9NEWS Weather Impact Team has issued a Weather Impact Alert for Saturday morning because of a hard freeze with several hours of temps in the low 20s and upper teens.
Fortunately, most of the roads quickly dried out after a short-lived snow event on Friday so most of the big impacts will be to vegetation as the growing season is well under way in parts of Colorado.
Irrigation systems could also be affected. If you’ve started running your sprinklers in this warm and dry weather lately, you’ll want to cover any above-ground parts like the faucet or the backflow preventer. The ground is way too warm for the cold to damage lines below ground.
Full sunshine will quickly get temperatures above freezing by 8 a.m. with afternoon highs in the middle 50s.
