The family of an 11-year-old boy who died in a collision in Derby have paid tribute to the “sweet child who was full of life”.
Seth Fulton was riding his bicycle on Nottingham Road, Chaddesden, on the evening of Friday, April 17, when he became involved in a collision with a bus and a car.
He was seriously injured and died in hospital.
His family have now released a picture of the boy, saying Seth was happiest out in nature on an adventure.
In a statement, Seth’s mum and dad said: “He was a lovely, colourful lad, independent and cheeky.
“He had a lust for life, loved wildlife and was adventurous. He was caring and compassionate, impulsive and inquisitive.
“He had a thirst for knowledge, was fearless, very sociable and would speak to anyone. He was free-thinking and carefree.
“He absolutely loved skateboarding and BMX riding.
“He was so very funny with his silly jokes and dancing. He was passionate about anything he put his mind to – he had the best personality.
“Everyone who came into contact with Seth will never forget him. He loved his friends as much as they all loved him.
“He was a sweet child who was full of life. He was a so very loved son, brother, grandson and nephew.”
The aftermath of the crash caused the road to be shut for hours on April 17, and people who witnessed the incident and other members of the community have since paid tribute to him.
“I know the mum, and my heart breaks for her and her family,” a worker in the nearby Beaufort Fish Bar told Derbyshire Live the day after the incident.
“I didn’t see the crash happen, but I saw the aftermath and it was so shocking.
“It’s just so sad and I really wish the family all the best, it must be so difficult for them.”
Tom Foster, 37, who lives on Nottingham Road, said: “I came out of my house when I saw all the commotion and my heart sank when I realised it was a young boy who had been struck.
“It was horrible to hear he did not make it, and I think everyone here is in absolute shock and disbelief.
“My condolences to the family. I hope they find a way to process this immense loss.”
A teenage girl, who was walking her dog together with her mother, added: “It’s all everyone is talking about.
“It can be quite dangerous on here with all the buses and cars but you would never think something like this would happen.
“I’m so sorry for the family’s loss.”
