The Canaries trailed to Sam Morsy’s early opener, with Clement watching from the stands as he served a touchline ban.
But the Belgian was in the dressing room at the interval to help his coaching staff plot a remarkable turnaround at Ashton Gate.
Led by Australian international Toure, who now has 10 goal contributions and two matchballs in his first eight league appearances either side of a groin injury lay-off.
“He’ll get a lot of plaudits for getting that hat-trick, but his movement in behind in the second half was much better,” said Garry, who was on post-match media duties. “We wanted more from him in that area than in the first half.
“With Mo he’s a young player, there’s still a lot of learning to do, and he’s very open minded to learning. What the team did is they provided him with the opportunity to score those goals.
“There’s a lot of learning for the group, you know, in terms of not just this game, but the whole season. They’re a young group and there were some players in the line up that never been here and played here.
“With a lot of reflection and understanding they will learn what version of yourself needs to turn up every game. You saw two examples of us maybe not being quite on it, and then us going for it in the second half. It’s about being consistent and making sure you’re in fifth gear as often as you can be in in such a league.
“Our message, and the manager’s message to the group at half-time was exactly that, in terms of could we show more intensity with and without the ball? We needed probably more forward movement to disrupt their defensive organisation, which was very good, very solid, which we expected.
“Big credit to the boys, because I think that everyone took on board that information, and went and did what they needed to do in the second half, individually and collectively. We were very dominant, with and without the ball, which was good.
“So we’re pleased with not just obviously the goals and the chances and the shots on goal, but also some of our behaviours.
“We started the second half with a real intent and desire to show the real version of themselves with and without the ball.
“We knew since they’d changed manager they were very, very solid. I felt it was a combination of us maybe not being as precise as we needed to be in terms of our movement to receive, and our ball handling skills at times let us down in the final third. But I think in the second half we improved in those areas.”
