Over the weekend, everything that could have gone wrong for Liam Rosenior and Chelsea in the race for Champions League football did.
Chelsea lost 1-0 to Manchester United, while Liverpool and Aston Villa were both able to pick up wins.
Rosenior has now been discussing his side’s chances of finishing in the top five ahead of their game against Brighton & Hove Albion on Tuesday.

In the build-up to Chelsea’s visit to the Amex Stadium, Rosenior was asked about the Blues’ Champions League hopes.
The 41-year-old was very honest with his response, telling reporters that it is now a “difficult” task following Saturday’s loss to United.
In his pre-match press conference, which has been shared by football.london, Rosenior said: “We’ll deal with each situation as it arises. It’s a difficult task but we have to focus on winning against a very good Brighton team.”
Chelsea are currently in sixth place in the Premier League table, seven points behind Liverpool, who occupy the final Champions League spot in fifth.
United’s gap over Chelsea has now increased to 10 points after their victory at Stamford Bridge, giving Rosenior’s side zero chance of finishing above Michael Carrick’s team.
On another day, Liam Delap believes Chelsea would have beaten United after all of the chances that they created.

Brighton are one of the most in-form teams in the Premier League right now, whereas Chelsea are one of the most out-of-form sides.
In fact, since gameweek 26, Chelsea have been second bottom in the form table. Nothing points towards a Chelsea win here.
The most the Club World Cup winners can probably hope for is a draw, so The Chelsea Chronicle is predicting the game to finish 1-1.
However, no Chelsea supporter at this point would be surprised if the club could not even secure a point and went on to lose. At this stage, it does not really matter. It is going to take some collapse from United, Aston Villa or Liverpool for Chelsea to finish in the top five.
