A ban warning has been issued to all Sky Blues fans ahead of tonight’s game versus Portsmouth. Coventry City FC could be crowned Championship title winners at the CBS Arena tonight (April 21).
But the club has urged fans not to spoil what could be a huge night for the city – and warned those that do could be banned.
It has stressed that pitch invasions are illegal as is carrying or letting off smoke bombs or pyros.

In a statement, the club said it has welcomed the launch of the ‘Love Football, Protect the Game’ campaign which aims to educate supporters on the impact of pitch incursions and anti-social behaviour.
“We are all looking forward to another exciting matchday at our home, the Coventry Building Society Arena, and thank you all for your co-operation and continued support,” the statement reads.
It lists the campaign’s key elements and what could happen if the rules are broken.
Pitch Incursion
It is against the law to enter the pitch at any time. Any supporter who does so, at any time, will face club and police action which is a minimum of 3 years ban.
Recent pitch invasions have brought football bans, stopping fans from attending matches, as well as police prosecution and criminal records which can impact employment, education, and international travel.
Pyrotechnics
Supporters are reminded that they face severe sanctions and possible criminal proceedings if they are found to enter the stadium, be in possession of and/or activate a pyrotechnic in the stadium. Under the Sporting Events Act 1985, supporters face a minimum of 3 years football banning order.
This includes use of flares, smoke devices and fireworks, which can result in severe safety risks, such as burns, respiratory issues, and fire hazards. These all present dangers to spectators, staff, players, and officials, including fans who may have respiratory illnesses.
Matchday Reporting:
Those who see any dangerous, discriminatory, or abusive behaviour, are being urged to report it through the campaign’s reporting text line service – Text: COV to 80800 with the location and details of the incident.
All messages are free of charge to send and are dealt with in confidence and details may be shared with West Midlands Police if further information is required for a criminal prosecution.
