Police in Edina, Minnesota, say one person was fatally shot Wednesday afternoon near the city’s Southdale Center.

The shooting happened around 12:30 p.m. near West 66th Street and York Avenue, just north of the mall. Police say one person was found at the scene suffering from a gunshot wound and was soon pronounced dead. Police say the suspects fled the scene before officers arrived.

WCCO saw police put a handcuffed man into a squad car just before 5 p.m. It’s unclear if he’s one of the suspects, but law enforcement did leave the scene shortly after the arrest.

Several nearby businesses and clinics temporarily went into lockdown due to the shooting, including the mall and M Health Fairview Southdale Hospital.

Police are urging anyone with surveillance footage to email police@edinamn.gov.
