Americans understandably questioned the necessity of the war against Iran, especially now that it has ended inconclusively. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu played an important role in convincing President Donald Trump of the need for the war, leading to claims from the far left and right, but not only, that Israel manipulated the United States into a war that was in its interests, but not America’s. In fact, the United States had – and has – critical strategic interests at stake.
