The future of Nottingham Forest midfielder Elliot Anderson will take centre stage this summer.

Anderson was magnificent in Sunday’s 4-1 win over Burnley, and in fairness, he’s been excellent since arriving for £35 million from Newcastle in 2024.

The midfielder helped Forest into the Europa League last term, and he’s continued his fine form in 2025/26, where the Reds are fighting a battle against relegation.

The race is heating up to sign the Forest man, with Anderson wanted by Manchester United and Manchester City once the season draws to a close.

According to The Athletic, Marinakis will only be keen to sell Anderson this summer if a bid of £125 million is made by any of the interested parties.

It would represent a remarkable deal for Forest should the club be able to recoup such a sum of money for one of their players going into next season.

United have placed Anderson right at the top of their transfer shortlist, with Manchester City thought to be the player’s preferred destination.

Whether either Manchester club is keen to part with £125 million will remain to be seen, but it does feel as though Forest will be powerless to prevent him from leaving.

Forest will have to get their recruitment much more aligned with what the head coach wants in the summer, especially if the club are to remain in the Premier League.

Far too many mistakes were made last summer, and if Anderson is to leave the City Ground, Marinakis will have to make sure that he’s properly replaced.

Losing the England star will be a significant blow for Forest, but if the club retain their Premier League status, there is hope that his departure won’t be too detrimental.
