Gardaí are appealing for witnesses following a fatal road traffic collision on the Williamstown Road in Waterford City today (Saturday).
Shortly after 1pm, Gardaí and emergency services responded to the collision involving a car and a motorcycle.
The motorcyclist, a man aged in his 40s, was pronounced dead at the scene.
His body has been removed to University Hospital Waterford where a post-mortem examination will take place in due course.
The driver of the car, a woman aged in her 30s, was taken to University Hospital Waterford for treatment of injuries believed to be non life-threatening.
There were no other injuries reported.
Garda Forensic Collision Investigators are currently conducting an examination of the scene and the road remains closed. Local diversions are in place.
Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to this collision to come forward.
Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling in the area between 12.50pm and 1.30pm are asked to make this footage available to investigating Gardaí.
Homeowners along the Williamstown Road who may have CCTV footage are also asked to make this available to Gardaí.
