A six-year old girl has died after being hit by a car in Paisley.

The horrifying incident on Saturday happened at around 5.30pm, in Johnston Street.

Two children were struck by a car. The six-year old girl was pronounced dead at the scene. A seven-year old girl was taken to hospital for treatment.

Her current condition is unknown.

Police have appealed for anyone who witnessed the incident to contact them immediately.

Sergeant Jack Swindells said: “Around 5.30pm on Saturday, 25 April, 2026, police received a report of two children being struck by a car on Johnston Street, Paisley.

“Emergency services attended and a 6-year-old girl was pronounced dead at the scene. A 7-year-old girl was taken to hospital for treatment.

“Enquiries remain ongoing and our thoughts are with the family of the girl who died. They ask that their privacy is respected at this time.

“We would ask anyone who witnessed the incident to please call police on 101, quoting reference 2786 of 25 April.”
