BENNINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) – A Massachusetts woman is facing two counts of murder after police found two children dead inside her Wellesley home Friday evening.
Bennington Police Department said they conducted a welfare check around 9:15 p.m. Friday after a woman arrived at a family residence in Bennington appearing highly distraught. Police said she had a visible neck injury and was bleeding.
Police identified the woman as Janette MacAusland. When officers talked to her, they became increasingly concerned for the welfare of her children, and requested officers at the Wellesley Police Department to respond to MacAusland’s house in Wellesley, Massachusetts, to check on the children.
The Wellesley Police Department said they found two children dead inside the MacAusland residence.
Bennington Police Department then helped Massachusetts authorities in the death investigation. Based on that investigation, police took MacAusland in custody as a fugitive from justice.
The Commonwealth of Massachusetts issued a criminal complaint warrant charging MacAusland with two counts of murder. She is being held without bail at a jail in southern Vermont and is scheduled to be arraigned Monday in Rutland.
