Volunteers from Shomrim, the Jewish neighbourhood watch organisation, have been helping Hackney police with road closures in the area due to the massive fire.
It wrote on X: “Large fire at a residential house next door to a Synagogue on Cazenove Road, N16. Shomrim volunteers are assisting @MPSHackney with road closures as multiple @LondonFire Brigade crews fight the significant fire. @Shomrim urge the public to avoid the area to give emergency services space to operate safely.
“The cause of the fire is unknown at this stage, we are keeping an open mind.”
