Popular Israeli singer Eyal Golan is set to be questioned by police over allegations of sexual offenses dating back a decade, sources told Haaretz.
The encounter between Golan and the complainant allegedly took place in 2015 during a treatment session she provided at her place of business, where she says the incident occurred.
According to information obtained by Haaretz, the woman contacted Golan multiple times in the years since, at times praising his singing career, though people close to her say she refrained from filing a complaint earlier out of fear of the consequences.
Last December, Golan confirmed in an Instagram post, following the Haaretz report, that a complaint had been filed against him. “I want to put an end to the rumors – it’s about me,” he wrote. “For several months now, I have been the target of extortion, and I will not give in to baseless extortion and threats. The story from ten years ago that ‘suddenly resurfaced’ is completely false. I have all the evidence, recordings, and messages proving that the allegations are false.”

The complainant then responded to Golan’s claims by stating that she “stands behind her full and true version, as submitted to the competent authorities. The attempt to portray the complaint as ‘blackmail’ or defamation is nothing more than an effort to deter, silence, and deflect from the facts – and it will lead nowhere.”
Golan’s attorney, Tal Gabbay, said on Thursday in response, “This is one of the biggest extortion cases in the country’s history. In recent months, evidence has been gathered of extortion and a false complaint. We have handed over all the material to the Israel Police.”
The police said in response: “In accordance with the State Prosecutor’s Office’s directive, the investigating unit in the Central District is required to complete the investigation into the case concerning a well-known singer’s involvement in past incidents. At the same time, a complaint he filed last night is also being examined in this context, including an assessment of the possible connection between it and the previous incidents.”
