A Donegal man has earned his spot on the Irish team that will take on the International Sheep Dog trials next month.
James Pat McDaid was named as one of the fifteen Irish sheep dog trainers who will make the journey to the UK for the tournament.
It’s after a fine performance by his dog, Ben, secured that qualification spot at the Irish National Sheep Dog Trials in Roscommon.
The former local politician has swapped the campaign trail for countryside lanes – and a member of the current political scene was one of the first to offer his congratulations via social media.
“A massive congratulations to our very own James Pat Mc Daid and his dog Ben who have today qualified for this year’s Ireland team,” current Letterkenny Councillor Donal “Mandy” Kelly posted.
“This is a fantastic achievement by man and dog. Well done James I’m absolutely delighted to see you get awarded for all your hard work and dedication.”
“A proud day for your family, friends and for Glenswilly. WELL DONE BUDDY!”
