A man died after a horror collision involving a car and motorbike on the East Lancs Road in Salford. The motorcyclist, a man aged in his 40s, was rushed to hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
Emergency services raced to the dual carriageway at around 2pm Friday afternoon (May 1) and closed it off in both directions between Walkden Road in Worsley and the M60 junction.
The slip road off the anti-clockwise M60 was also closed at junction 14, with traffic backing up onto the motorway as investigations into the major smash took place.

Pictures showed debris scattered across the road as police tape stretched over the carriageway. Officers from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit (SCIU) remained at the scene for a number of hours. The public were asked to ‘avoid the area’.
Witnesses report seeing the air ambulance at the scene, with the North West Ambulance Service later confirming that one person was taken to hospital with ‘serious’ injuries.
In an update, Greater Manchester Police confirmed that the collision was reported at the junction with Old Clough Lane and involved a car and a motorbike. The rider, a man in his 40s, later died.

A statement from the force read: “Our Serious Collision Investigation Unit (SCIU) is appealing for information after a motorcyclist died in a collision in Worsley.
“Officers were called to the junction of East Lancashire Road and Old Clough Lane, Worsley, at around 2pm yesterday (Friday 1 May) when there was a collision involving a car and a motorbike. A man in his 40s, who was riding the motorbike, has sadly died and our thoughts are with his family and friends.
“To help understand the full circumstances, officers are now appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the incident to come forward. They are keen to speak to anyone who may have CCTV, dashcam or mobile phone footage of the incident or of the moments leading up to the incident.”
