A Federal Aviation Administration employee from Nashua is facing a federal charge in connection with a threat made against President Donald Trump, officials announced Tuesday.Dean DelleChiaie, 35, faces one count of interstate communication of a threat against the president. Officials said DelleChiaie was arrested Monday. He appeared in federal court on Tuesday. According to the U.S. Attorney’s office in New Hampshire, DelleChiaie used his personal email on April 21 to “transmit a threat across state lines” to the White House’s public-facing email. Officials said the email had the following message:”I, Dean DelleChiaie, am going neutralize/kill you – Donald John Trump – because you decided to kill kids – and say that it was War – when in reality – it is terrorism. God knows your actions and where you belong.”Before emailing the White House, officials said DelleChiaie made the following internet searches in late January using his work computer:How to get a gun into a federal facilityPrevious assassination attempts against the presidentThe percentage of the population that wants the president deadThe phrase, “I am going to kill Donald John Trump”According to officials, the U.S. Secret Service interviewed DelleChiaie about the searches in February. During that interview, DelleChiaie allegedly admitted to making those searches and to owning three firearms, including a gun he kept in a safe in his home. DelleChiaie is on a paid leave of absence from the FAA, where he works as a mechanical engineer.A probable cause hearing in this case is scheduled for May 19. If convicted, DelleChiaie faces up to five years in prison and a $250,000 fine.
