NOW, THIS CRASH HAPPENED NOT FAR FROM THE DANVERS BARRACKS ON ROUTE ONE HERE IN DANVERS, MASS. STATE POLICE SAY JUST AFTER 2 A.M., A DRIVER WAS TRAVELING SOUTHBOUND IN THE NORTHBOUND LANE. THERE WERE CALLS TO POLICE ABOUT THE WRONG-WAY DRIVER. INVESTIGATORS SAY TROOPER TRAINOR WAS ON HIS WAY HOME WHEN THE SILVER JEEP SLAMMED INTO HIS RESPONDING STATE POLICE CRUISER. MASS STATE POLICE SAY THE DRIVER DIED AT THE SCENE. TROOPER TRAINOR DIED FROM HIS INJURIES AT MASS GENERAL HOSPITAL. THIS CRASH WAS A STATE POLICE INVESTIGATION FOR MORE THAN SIX HOURS, BACKING UP THE MORNING COMMUTE IN THIS AREA. THAT JEEP WAS FINALLY REMOVED ON A FLATBED. THE DRIVER HAS NOT BEEN IDENTIFIED. BOTH THE GOVERNOR AND MASS STATE POLICE GATHERED TO REMEMBER TROOPER TRAINOR IN THE BLINK OF AN EYE. THOSE RECKLESS ACTIONS STOLE KEVIN FROM BARBARA. A Massachusetts State Police trooper died Wednesday after his cruiser was struck on Route 1 in Lynnfield, Massachusetts, by a wrong-way driver, who also died in the crash, officials said.Trooper Kevin Trainor, 30, was traveling home from work on Route 1 north when his cruiser was struck just after 2 a.m. by a Jeep that was traveling south in a northbound lane near the Saugus/Lynnfield line, police said.”His assigned shift was scheduled to end at 2 a.m., and the 911 call came in at 2:01 a.m., and Trooper Trainor was still in the area preparing to go home. He did what all troopers will do, on-duty or off-duty, and that is be there to help, and that is what he did,” Massachusetts State Police Col. Geoffrey Noble said. Trainor, who works out of the Danvers barracks, was taken to Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, where he was later pronounced dead.
