Over in Scotland, where the Scottish Parliament is being elected, SNP leader John Swinney is expecting his party to go on and win a record fifth consecutive term.
Speaking as he was re-elected as the MSP for Perthshire North, Mr Swinney said: “We are at the every early stages of the election counts across the county.
“But it is becoming clear that the Scottish National Party is going to emerge as the largest party in this election campaign.”
After 20 out of 73 constituency results in the Scottish Parliament election, the SNP have 17 seats, while Scottish Labour, the Scottish Conservatives and the Scottish Lib Dems each hold one.
